Learn to Read Music

Note Types

This is a Whole note, it lasts for a full Four beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Half note, it lasts for a full Two beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Half note upside down, it lasts for a full Two beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Quarter note, it lasts for a single beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Quarter note upside down, it lasts for a single beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Eighth note, it lasts for half of a single beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Eighth note upside down, it lasts for half of a single beat in 4/4 time.
This is a Double Barred note, it lasts for a single beat in 4/4 time.

Rest Types

This is a Whole rest when it is below the line of music it is attached too and lasts for four full beats in 4/4 time.
This is a Half rest when it is above the line of music it is attached too and lasts for two full beats in 4/4 time.
This is a Quarter rest, it lasts for a single beats in 4/4 time.
This is a Eighth rest, it lasts for one half of a single beats in 4/4 time.

Clefs

This is a Treble clef, it denotes the higher notes. The notes are arranged C4-G5.
This is a Bass clef, it denotes the lower notes.The notes are arranged E2-F3.

Staff and Chords

This is a Staff, it is where Notes are placed.
This is a Chord, it is the action of playing multiple notes at once.
